Toad, Rat, Mole…and now Badger
"The Badger, who wore a long dressing-gown, and whose slippers were indeed very down at heel, carried a flat candlestick in his paw and had probably been on his way to bed when their summons sounded..."
Following hot on the tails of Rat and Mole, who will be joining our Wind in the Willows-inspired sculpture collection later in the year, comes another new character to add the literary cast. To complete the quartet of firm animal friends from Kenneth Grahame’s classic novel, we’re delighted to announce that we’ve been busy modelling a bold Badger holding a night lantern which can illuminate your garden or doorway.
Undoubtedly the wisest of the animal ensemble, Badger is a complex character who spends much of his time in solitude in the depths of the Wild Wood. His days are spent deep in his burrow—reading, meditating, and more than content to live out his quiet existence underground. Stoic by nature, but fiercely loyal to those he calls friends; it’s Badger’s meaningful advice that finally persuades Toad to reform his extravagant lifestyle.
While spring approaches with purpose, we’re excited to think about all those outdoor spaces which can be inspired by the rolling countryside of Edwardian Britain—and the rich, multilayered characters from Grahame’s masterwork.
Picture a garden, vibrant with budding plant life and natural splendour; populated with the unforgettable creations from the original Wind in the Willows novel. From Aladdin to Ali Baba, these classic tales have weathered the sands of time and remained a literary favourite for readers of all ages.
From the ancient pages of Arabian Nights, to add to our ever-growing range of sharp-witted birds, comes the Wise Falcon bronze sculpture. Using his cunning to escape the clutches of a local hunter, offering promises of treasure and jewels in a far-off land, the clever falcon is an iconic character that embodies ingenuity and quick thinking. And soon enough, this majestic handcrafted bird can take centre stage in your garden.
