Judith Kerr Bronze Sculptures

Bronze garden sculptures and water features inspired by Judith Kerr’s much-loved children’s books, The Tiger Who Came to Tea and the Mog stories. Each sculpture is handmade in bronze and shaped with close attention to the warmth and lively character of Kerr’s original illustrations.

“The Tiger Who Came to Tea was a story I first told to my daughter when she was almost three!”

The Judith Kerr collection

Berlin-born Judith Kerr was one of the twentieth century’s most-loved author-illustrators, known for books that combined humour with a wonderfully observant eye. Generations of children and families have read her stories, and her characters remain instantly recognisable – among her best-known works are The Tiger Who Came to Tea and the Mog series, both of which have become enduring classics on bookshelves across the world.

Judith Kerr’s stories and characters

First published in 1968, The Tiger Who Came to Tea tells the delightful tale of an unannounced guest who arrives at teatime and proceeds to eat and drink the house dry, all with impeccable confidence. The story has a dreamlike logic that children accept at once and that adults remember with equal affection. Mog, meanwhile, is an altogether different mode of cat: affectionate, muddled, occasionally exasperating, yet entirely herself.

From book to bronze

Robert James Workshop worked closely with Judith Kerr’s daughter, Tacy Kneale, to bring these iconic characters to life in sculpture, with care and authenticity. The result is a collection that captures the charm of Kerr’s work, carrying her familiar world from the page into the garden.
