A Page from The Sketchbook

Dear friends ...

On Sunday, Bob and I had a lovely sail around Portland Bill. It was a bit squally which blew away our studio cobwebs. We talked about our new works for 2018 and what we'd like to tell you about...

Beatrix Potter is now firmly placed upon our workshop blackboard: two Peter Rabbits, Jeremy Fisher, Jemima Puddle-Duck, Mr Tod and Mrs Tiggy-Winkle are going to be our new stars.

We had the wonderful privilege of actually holding these original artworks at The Victoria & Albert Museum Archive to study them in detail, ready for our working in clay.

I was overwhelmed by their small scale - almost the same size as the original printed illustration. What an absolute genius Beatrix Potter was - such gems.

We already have Squirrell Nutkin and Samuel Whiskers modeled and cast of which we are very pleased. Such naughty characters and I love them so.

The Flower Fairies have been received very well and we feel privileged to be able to work from such gorgeous illustrations - such enchanting artworks lend themselves so well to garden sculpture.

We can only make these in hotcast bronze as they are just too fragile in cold cast bronze resin.

This year we have had quite a number of customers visiting the foundry to witness the casting process and be enchanted by its alchemy.

If you'd like to visit and see the production take place then please do just ask.

The gallery workshop in Bridport has been open since March and has been an enjoyable and rewarding adventure.

In the past, our only outings have been to the RHS shows where we can share our collection with an audience but now 'with an appointment' clients can visit with some peace and tranquility to properly contemplate their options for their garden projects.

It is truly a joy to be visited from customers from all over the world who are so appreciative.

Next year as we have such a large body of work to create we will only be exhibiting at RHS Chelsea Flower Show and RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show - we do hope to see you there in person.

If you would like to place an order, please call me on 07515 126119 or complete the contact form on our website.

Also, please do follow / share us on social media, to be updated with our sketches and models.

Thank you so much,

Robert & James.
